Thailand has been facing with serious water shortage
Every year, the availability of fresh water resources has been
steadily diminishing with the rapid inpopulation and fast
industrialization. Inadequate system of management technology
for water supply has also obstructed the improvement of public
health and economic growth of the country.
To overcome this situation, the Metropolitan
Waterworks Authority (MWA) and the Provincial Waterworks
Authority (PWA) proposed to establish the National Waterworks
Technology Training Institute (NWTTI) as their joint project
under the cooperation of the Japan International Cooperation
Agency (JICA), in an attempt to train the required engineers
and technicians in an effective and integrated manner.
The Project Phase I was carried out during December
1, 1985 to November 30,1990 for transferring basic waterworks
and followed by the Project Phase II as another five-year
technical and managerial staff who had sufficient knowledge
for applying advanced and appropriate technology to thai
waterworks as to strengthen the capabilition, research and
development and information exchange.
